Integrated as part of the Salvo Loading Dock Safety System Solution, the new Steering Wheel Lock helps prevent accidental drive-aways for box trucks at the loading dock by utilizing trapped key interlocking principles to enforce a safe sequence of loading or unloading operations. Available from May 2026, this is a new product development for the Sentric Safety Group, and one they are proud to offer customers.
Salvo already offers safety solutions for a variety of vehicle types; however, the new Steering Wheel Lock is designed specifically to deter against accidental drive-aways for box trucks. Once engaged on the steering wheel of a box truck, the Steering Wheel Lock provides an effective visual drive-away deterrent, and the mechanics are simple: the visual deterrent reinfoces that the vehicle should not be moved and makes turning of the steering wheel very difficult.
When the key is removed from the Steering Wheel Lock, it is inserted into the Salvo Control Panel or Salvo Manual Door Lock, allowing the dock door to be opened and trapping the key until loading or unloading is complete and the dock door is closed again. At that point the key may be removed from the control panel or door lock and reinserted into the Steering Wheel Lock, allowing it to be removed from the steering wheel and the vehicle can then depart safely from the loading dock.
