In a nutshell, tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born in Jiangxi and came to Shanghai when I finished my college course. I started my career in Shanghai, and have learnt a lot over the years.

I love my what I do. It is passion that drives me every day. I also love to learn. Day after day, despite how busy life can get, I continue to study our products, analysing problems and looking for solutions. I would say I am bold and curious, always looking for new ways to drive myself, and our business, forward.

What has your career looked like up until now?

My first job was a quality assurance specialist in a manufacturing company, and I stayed there for 4 years. During that time, the company provided free education welfare for any
promising employee, and I took the opportunity to apply for an electronic information course at Shanghai University. I managed to get the degree, and I was promoted to quality assurance group leader, managing 20 people. While working there, gradually I felt a little overburdened. Soon after, I went to work for Sentric.

I joined Castell in 2011, taking the position of a quality assurance specialist. I was working with a team of wonderful people, in a great work environment. I knew I had to stay.

What are your key responsibilities in your role and how do you ensure customer satisfaction?

As a quality assurance supervisor, I am the gatekeeper to receiving the issues and I take responsibility to analyse and identify the problems, looking at solutions. I can also deal with inspection procedures or training. In terms of feeding back to the customer, I will submit an action plan and communicate with them accordingly – always ensuring their concerns are dealt with to the best of our ability.

What is the work-life balance like in your role?

I have a fantastic work-life balance – and I really enjoy my life! My son has gone away to college this year, so I have more free time now too. I love singing especially. There is an app that I use to sing on my phone with the lyrics, and it feels like I am singing at Karaoke. I believe life is made up of small pleasures, and I am fortunate to have the work-life balance to enjoy them.

Could you share a fun fact about yourself?

When as younger, I did a part time job during the summer vacations at school. I went to my auntie’s breakfast store and café where I was asked to welcome guests, take food orders, and to clean too. Not many people know that, but I think it was while working there that I found my ability to observe, to assimilate and to respond to customer needs.
